BREAKING NEWS: Football Legend, Rashidi Yekini, Dies In Ibadan


One of Africa's most celebrated footballer Rashidi Yekini is dead. Yekini, 49, passed on in ibadan today with causes of the painful death yet to be ascertained.

The gangling striker, who will be remembered mostly for his goal scoring prowess, has been living a secluded life in the ancient city of Ibadan and at different times falling ill. Born in Kaduna, Yekini played for several club locally and internationally His phenomena scoring record earned him the title of African

Footballer of the Year in 1993, the first ever by any Nigeria. Amongst other records set, Yekini also prides himself as the first Nigerian to score in the World Cup. A senior teammate, Segun Odegbami had recently hinted that he was doing every thing possible to bring Yekini from seclusion and have him partner in an unnamed project
